Reassuringly Consistent

COVID – 19 UPDATE

Dear Patients,

We all hope this letter finds you safe and well but for those who have suffered loss or hardship during this pandemic we offer our sincere sympathies.

You may have heard that dental practices will be allowed to open from Monday, the 8th of June but currently we are unable to secure sufficient PPE and the additional equipment needed to protect you and our staff during treatment procedures.  Cross infection control has always been of the highest priority for our practice and none more so than at this present time.

Therefore, we hope to be able to start providing care by Monday 29th June.

We would like to assure you that we will ONLY resume practice when we can protect both you and our staff according to the latest guidelines from our governing bodies.  Patients who have notified us of problems during the lockdown will be seen as a priority.

Please be aware that practice protocols will be very different.

Changes to normal protocols that you will notice are

  • You will be contacted the day before your appointment by telephone, please ensure we have your correct up-to-date number, and asked some screening questions and medical history check.  Please have any medications to hand.
  • On arrival at the practice please wait in your car and telephone reception to let them know you are here.  You will be told when to come to the door and will be asked to use hand gel before having your temperature taken with our infrared scanner.  We will also check on any changes which may have occurred over the last day.  Should you be arriving by foot please again let us know by telephone and maintain social distancing while waiting.  A shelter will be provided if the weather is inclement.  Please do not arrive early
  • Once inside the practice you will then proceed straight to your treatment room.

NB If you are showing symptoms or have been in contact with a confirmed Covid patient in the last two weeks you should NOT visit the practice, if you need urgent dental care, we will arrange referral to a specialist centre.

  • With the exception of children and patients with carers patients should come alone.
  • The waiting room is closed and the toilet should only be used if in dire need please
  • On completion of treatment please do NOT go to reception.  The door will be opened for you so you can leave the building.
  • Payment should be made by card over the telephone after your appointment is complete.  Please note we will be unable to accept payment by cash or cheque at this time.
  • Do not arrive without an appointment.
  • Please wear your own mask if possible or be prepared to wear one.  Doors will be opened for you but please use the stair handrail which we sanitise between patients.

Thanking you in advance for your cooperation, with all best wishes, hoping to return to the new normal as soon as possible.

Please keep safe and we look forward to seeing you again.

Kind regards

Andy Maxted, Wendy Meaden and all at Maxted Meaden Dental Practice
